Manila Place, Gurney Plaza

It's rather disappointing that i have difficulty sparing the time to sit and write a post for any of my blogs. I have loads in mind but not in writing. Right this second while I'm having dinner at this beautiful pleasant Manila Place at Gurney Plaza,I'm showing you what I'm eating. My Samsung SL was my camera and word editor as well as connecting me to the world wide web. As this moment I wish I have a tab of some kind.
I picked Spaghetti Beef Bolognese dinner set priced at Rm19.90 only. It comes with creamy mushroom soup and a choice of honey green tea or lavazza black coffee. For your information, there are other sets with different main courses(price too) and this set is the cheapest yet it was so much more appetizing than my friend's steak and fish. I had my little food tasting comparison...he he! The information is right down on the last picture.
I taste good, Lavazza is my name!

Super Burger - Cordon Bleu with Jewish Salad

This is one of the best burger i've eaten. The best is MacJu's oblong burger which I will post up after i get the pictures.....it is all unique and superb! One must wait to get the best :). These are homemade concocted by a Unique Yen! Oh I could call her Chef Yen!

Look at all the cheese oozing out and it just melts in your mouth! Wow! This will cost a fortune but totally unbeatable by the fast food chains.

Thanks for the yummies! :D
Emmantel cheese, have you heard of that? A Swiss cheese, colored cow's milk that has large holes. According to WiseGeek, the cheese originated in the Emme Valley of Switzerland. This is absolutely delicious!

Putu Piring at Tanjung Bungah Night Market

Occasionally it is pleasant to walk through the bustle of a night market. One that I do fancy is the Tanjong Bungah night market(only on Tuesdays). There are a variety of stalls selling clothes, fashion jewelry, undergarments, shoes, slippers, hand phone accessories, stationery and sometimes even rabbits.
The stall that caught my eye was this putu piring as we malaysians calls it. And can you believe it, there is a Putu piring wikipedia on it which I will extract its meaning for those who has no idea what it really is.
Basically it is made of a type of flour with brown sugar coated. It is fun to eat, I treat it like a dessert. Why fun you may ask? Well, it is when we are using our fingers to pinch and place it inside our mouth. Just using the thumb, forefinger and the middle finger!

I don't seem to see it selling in many place nowadays in Penang  but one that i saw is in Tanjung Bungah Market. This putu piring man was nice enough for me to take a picture of him and the stall. He does sell what we usually eat which is the kutu mayong. This night market is off Jalan Tanjung Bungah near the shoplots where they have Maybank, Yorkshire cafe and other coffee shop.

JL Cafe, Prangin Mall Penang

My favourite restaurant in Prangin Mall. It's been years that I have been there(when I'm in Prangin Mall) but this is my first blogpost about it. Ironic! I guess when I'm there I think of food and not pictures. Well this day I also did not bring my camera but thanks to Chin Chin founder of TOAR Travel Magazine, I have some pictures to share. Do visit her website, interactive and lot's to learn. What is missing here is their signature mushroom soup. Take my word for it and forget about the picture. If you have never tried it, try it. It's thick and creamy and with all the particles of ingredients in it,it makes it unforgettable.
These are the things we had ....everything you see here is below RM20. Look out for the set meal and the best part about JL Cafe is they don't charge extras..no ++. :)

The sandwich is scrumptious to the core, anyone would enjoy this meal. Soft, fresh and tasty!

This caesar salad is so filling, there is cheese, ham, egg, strips of chicken and along with the rest of the colourful veg.
This is a very cheesy fish dish if you like cheesy taste.
Then there's the spaghetti bolognese, you can almost feel like you are eating mummy's spaghetti, the home cooked feel. Yum!
I cannot remember the name of this dish but the fish with its garlic on top is delicious.
The satisfied customers!!And I'm behind the camera!
I wish I would have done the proper food review with its prices but not for this visit. All I can say is don't miss it, and as their saying goes "Taste it to Love it"

Owned by a very nice couple Tarmizi and Lai Ying, they are also owners of Mizi restaurant (New World Park, Tesco Tg Pinang). JL cafe is situated in a cosy corner at Level 3 and you will love hanging out there for as long as you can. Have a friendly chat, read the magazines and have some coffee. Check out Evana coffee, i hope the spelling is right because that's their daughter's name. Its their special coffee concoction and for those who like mocha, will probably like this. And I will blog about Mizi later.Adios!
