Cakes from Secret Recipe, Straits Quay

What happens after a good lunch meal? Desserts and coffee, ofcourse. Taking advantage of the free coffee with purchase of a slice of cake, we waited for 3.00pm to get our desserts. My flat white coffee is divine and all i need is half to almost a pack of sugar. So proud of me!Besides, I have all the sweetness in the cakes :). If you don't want flat white, you have a choice to pick long black or tea.
All these cheesecakes were so cheesy good with all the different flavours. We had Green Tea, Choc White Cheese, Raspberry, Blueberry, Banana Cheese, and Classic Cheese cakes. Yum Yum Yum....
All types of cheesecake from the counter.

Eaton Viet Thai Restaurant, Tanjung Bungah - Penang

It's been quite awhile since I've eaten Vietnamese food. But I'm glad I manage to visit Eaton Viet Thai Restaurant, it was indeed a delightful meal with one fiery occasion. This is Junnie, the proprieter of this restaurant with her husband who is absent at this time. They just moved back in Penang not long ago from UK. They had 5 restaurants (if I remembered right) in UK and recently sold off to come back and retire in our humble Penang Island. Junnie is originally from Penang and the husband from UK. You can see from the banner and the business card later on, the couple's picture is right on there.
See how long is the menu.
Let's get right on to the food. Some of the dishes are taken from the MYDeal.com.my promotion deal voucher. I have missed the vietnamese spring roll and finally get to sink my teeth on it and it was really nice. The prawn as you can see through the skin is a big one. The lemongrass chicken however was just alright for me.There's also the salad which is on the sourish side because of its sauces.

This minced meat and prawn rolled on sugarcane is also one of Vietnamese special dishes.  Looks like a large matchstick. You should try this. I have tasted better ones but this is also delish. Really depends on individual taste buds. The fried spring rolls is crunchy and filled up with veg, meat fillings. I loved it!

The fiery occasion is on this delicious curry lamb fellow. But it really put our tongues on fire, we had to call for help and Junnie was kind enough to simmer it down for us to a level of spiciness we all could eat. What a laugh!
This is highly recommended Belacan Chicken dish. Crunchy on the outside, tender on the inside with a nice belacan flavour.
Overall the bill came around to RM69.There are alot of varieties to choose from and that would be from a second visitation. The place is cosy for small gatherings or a hangout place to chat and eat.

Eastern Wishes Cafe, Penang

Eastern Wishes is a cafe that serves Nyonya, Hakka and Thai foods. The last time I went was a couple of years back. It was a cosy little square within blocks away from Scotia Bank at I-Avenue and recently I had dinner there, they have expanded a second wing. They must be doing well all these years, I am glad I visited again to taste its scrumptious  dishes. Since the first time I have been here till my last visit, I have never once was dissapointed with any of the food ordered. And I like the sound of the name, Eastern Wishes, not to mentioned the font of the name suits it so well.

Petai with Prawns - Price N/A
I really like the petai and the prawns with curry. Though Petai vegetable is not my favourite but as a whole, it tasted fabulous. The salted bean sprout is not too bad either but the portion is small for 6 people, so if please order according to the pax you have. Most likely medium size will be better.
Salted Fish Beansprout - RM 6
Stuffed Chicken Wings - RM9.50
This is an appetizer dish and the stuffing is delicious with its crispy skin.Something to whet the appetite in the beginning of the meal. I especially like my honey lemon tea compared to passion fruit taste. They have a section for fresh juices and the juices that comes from cans, so make your pick but don't be disappointed, there is a lot of other drinks to choose from too.
Honey Lemon Tea & Passion Juice

Seafood TomYam Soup - RM30 for 6 pax
The Tom Yam Seafood Soup was a 'hot' stuff, the spiciness surely did burn my tongue a little but I would think it is not a problem for the chili 'kings' and 'queens' as how we Malaysians normally refer to a person who is good at eating chilis at a high level. The mixture of sourish, sweet and abit spicy of the kerabu mango brings out a nice taste. There was some hungry people around so i did not get down to taking a full plate of the beancurd so the particular one is mine :) I love the beancurd, soft in the inside, just the right crisp on the outside coupled with the thai sauce.
Kerabu Mango - RM 6
Thai Sauce  Bean Curd - RM 5 small plate
Now for the desserts, it is also an added points for them. Good dishes and good desserts will make anyone happy. So if you come in a group, do have a variety of its appetizers, dishes and desserts to have a yummy 3 course meal. The originality of the food is simple yet scrumptious and the prices are reasonable so it does not burn out your pocket for a good meal. Oh yes, i did remember that I liked the green curry chicken and some crispy vegetable as well which is not part of this event. Please look below for more details of the shop.
Cendol - RM2.80

Tam Tim Grob - RM2.80

Penang Hill Coffee Shop

One delightful morning, I went to Penang Hill with some friends and a delight turns to disappointment then curves up to great smiles. All because the sky decided to 'cry' on us but all is not lost as the sun shone soon enough for us to have our walk again. We stopped by the coffee shop to grab some snack but no sign of light snacks(junk food not considered) in there so we had some drinks and shared what you see below.
Hot Milo - RM 1.40
Nasi Goreng Kampung - RM 4.00
Maggie Mee Goreng - RM 4.50

It was indeed satisfactory, all we had tasted good. After that was all sight seeing and I realised how much I have forgotten the view from Penang Hill and everything else there. Like I am a tourist in my own country!

Hisago at Straits Quay, Penang

Eversince I was told on this special dish called Wagyu Beef, I looked for it and finally found a place that has it and a place I've never been to. Wagyu beef or also known as 'Kobe' style beef has been discovered that the meat is the most succulent and tender in the world. Moreoever the fat has more monounsaturated fat (the good fat), making it suitable as part of a lower cholesterol diet.

So some of us went there to have a simple birthday celebration and being there early, we were the only ones there and were joined by other diners later on. The seating and the atmosphere in the restaurant is well suited for families and friends to dine and hang out. Eric Lim the General Manager is camera shy but nevertheless served us with his recommendations. He gave a gift of green tea ice cream to the birthday 'baby' in a unique glass which you can see at the bottom of the page and we had not been left out but given a complimentary green tea ice cream too. Thanks Eric!
Love this piece of architecture!
This is an amazingly scrumptious beef...mmm mmm..the meat is tender and succulent. The two words are the right adjectives to describe this particular wagyu beef.  If it is consistently this good, it will be best selling hands down!
Wagyu Wafu Steak (Japanese style beef steak) - RM 68
I enjoyed this assortment very much, everything tasted fresh and pleasing to my stomach. The wasabi was absolutely hot but exhilarating :)
Suishou Classic Deluxe (selection of assorted Sashimi) - RM 80
The chicken has a simple taste that does not exude a desire for more however it may differ with different people. To each its own.

Toru Yuzu Shioyaki (Grilled Chicken with citrus sauce) - RM 22
The garlic rice was nice too though the portion was more for the weight watchers so it suited me fine.
Garlic Fried Rice - RM 8
There it is, the birthday 'baby's ice cream that comes with red bean and wafer roll in a spiral glass while the other is ours. Both had the red beans and cornflakes sprinkled on it. I really like the combination of red beans and cornflakes toppings as it makes the usual green tea bitterness more pleasant as a whole. As I was never a big fan of green tea ice cream, I got to say this is yummy.

I would love to go back and try more things as there are many other varieties. So give it a try when you are at Straits Quay, Penang. Highly recommended. Find out more on their promotions at Hisago Modern Japanese Restaurant Facebook
