Yummy Cuisine, Sungai Ara, Penang

This was a quick lunch after an early morning outing and dropping a friend off at the airport. We were being indecisive about lunch places so we decided to drop in Yummy Cuisine after awhile. I have been there a few times but it's been awhile since my last visit. It's interesting that they do not have a menu presented to you but I suppose who needs it when the lady boss can recommend pretty good stuff according to your liking. So this is what we had, simple scrumptious glorious food. Love all to bits.
Prices are quite reasonable, some might be a bit wee high but it is not uncommon. Free Wifi is provided and I observed that alot of working people comes for lunch here. They served all types of rice sets and mee so I believe it is convenient for some working people.
The place is cosy and cooling though there are no air conditions but with sufficient strong fans thank goodness. Try it if you are around the area and want some chinese dishes. Map provided below.

Four Hour Chef in Your Kitchen

I have to admit I am not good with the kitchen as I was brought up to be away from the kitchen. I do love food, no doubt at all. Cookbooks section in a bookstore is a section I would walk pass it without a blink of an eye or a stop for a thought. However, my latest discovery of this book '4 Hour Chef - The Simple Life of Cooking like a Pro, Learning Anything and Leading a Good Life' stirred an interest in me. It is not just a cookbook per se; it takes you to another level of living a good healthy life with good food while keeping your busy schedule intact. Timothy Ferriss will transform your life with this book and it doesn't matter if you have been cooking for the past ten years or have never touched a cooking pan in your life. As many have testified, you will be able to learn new skills in a minimum time and have fun doing it.

Being quite conscious of my figure and a time conscious-ed woman, I exceptionally embraced his ideas on having a Slow Carb lifestyle using methods that will not waste my precious time but get more out of life with it. This book gives practicality of cooking, contains great recipes from his other book 4-Hour Body, and for those of you who would want to maximize your time with your family and friends, you would be interested. I felt it is also a great gift to share with people around you, nothing beats a good book like this.

Read and know more about this book here: Four Hour Chef by Timothy Ferriss

Quoting from Amazon:
The 4-Hour Chef: The Simple Path to Cooking Like a Pro, Learning Anything, and Living the Good Life builds upon Timothy Ferriss's internationally successful “4-hour” series by transforming the way we cook, eat, and--most important--learn. Ferriss, nominated as one of Fast Company's “Most Innovative Business People of 2007” and Forbes magazine's “Names You Need to Know in 2011,” is author of the #1 New York Times best sellers The 4-Hour Body and The 4-Hour Workweek, the latter of which has been translated into 35 languages and has been on the New York Times Best Sellers list for more than four years unbroken.

Abbey Road Bistro, Butterworth

Don't get lost while walking on heels, it's no joke! Some of us were 'over the sea' (Penang lingo) for a meeting and followed by window shopping at Sunway Carnival until it was dinner time. With just a cut out from the newspaper, we decided to try out Abbey Road Bistro. We saw it as our car passed on our way to Sunway Carnival so thinking that it was near, we walked from Sunway Carnival but  somehow it wasn't nearby and we couldn't find the restaurant. Long story short, we asked around, got back on our friends car and we reached. About my heels, the bottom part came off!

Abbey Road Bistro interiors are all about The Beatles. If you know nuts on The Beatles and why is Abbey Road of any relation? Click here.
The place is dimly lighted and it has a cosy ambience. Family, couples and friends were hanging out there that night. Do ask for recommendations as there are some items that are not included in the menu. At the end of our meal, we were told they actually serve kobe beef too.

The baked trout was simply exquisite in taste and in portion which I would relate such dish to a fine dining menu. I could see that my friend was satisfied with the taste however, the portion does not suffice.
Baked Trout - RM 44
Alot of us enjoyed the grilled boneless chicken, it doesn't need much comments. It's scrumptious.
Grilled Boneless Chicken - RM27
The oysters we ordered was not in the menu and it comes in 4 pieces. The only qualm we had is it was a tad small for our liking but it is no doubt an excellent dish. We enjoyed every bit of it till it was wiped clean.
Oyster Motoyaki(4pieces) - RM36

Pan Seared Seabass - RM 32
Seabass is pretty good too and I loved the mashed potatoes. The burgers were not too bad as well. Meaty and stuffed sufficiently. My friend commented it was better than Hard Rock's. :)
Rockefeller Chicken Burger and Old Skool Burger
Apart from the main menu, another 'special' menu was given and with just two choice of desserts to choose, we ordered all. This place is a fine dining bistro and if you look into their facebook page you realized that they have lots of food styles as well as alot of different types of services available(Check it out below). Not to mention, they have live bands occasionally as well.

Sachertorte and Mille Feuille
Great shot, guys!

We had a chat with the chef's father John, a friendly chap who told us more about the bistro and also that his son is the only Malaysian who worked with the Iron Chef, if I heard him right. Later we met the son Samuel and his wife.  Great family working together.

Sushi Tei, Gurney Plaza, Penang

I suppose by now you would know I'm a Japanese food fan. This was my next stop, Sushi Tei restaurant at Gurney Plaza that faces Gurney Drive. I love the interior design, shiny glasses in abstract forms. The servers are ever ready to be at your service and one of the servers gave a good recommendation making one of it the best dish of the evening. Which one is it?

Everything we had has been fresh and appetizing, the pictures below are from a few visits to Sushi Tei, from simple meals to a birthday event. There are some that I am not able to provide pricing or name details due to unforeseen circumstances. Not to worry, most of it are here.
Kani Avacado Salad - RM14.80
Gyu Misoyaki (Beef) - RM15.00
Sushi Tei has this menu where you have combo choices to add on to your main meal of your choice.  Pretty good deal however the add ons are smaller in portion. At least there is a variety for the big eaters as well as the petite ones.
Salad Add-On
Chawan Mushi Add-On
Beef Sliced Teriyaki Steak - RM16.80
Salmon Sashimi - RM10.80
Kani Avacado Salad - RM14.80
There it is, the best dish of the night. It was so fresh and the meat of the prawn is so tasty not to mention the sauce added to it gives an extra oomph to it. If you do not like sweet dishes, this is not really for you, however anything might change the moment it enters a persons mouth.:)

Ebi Mentaiyaki - RM19.80
Inari Kani Mentai Mayo with cod roe - RM5.80
Tuna
The ramen dish was fantastic and the soup draws you back with each slurp. My niece could not get enough of it. Towards the end of the bowl, my sister pulled up a ramen with a knot, how rare is that? And my friend asked me if I made the knot myself, what a laugh, she could not believed I came across it.

Look at this scrumptious temptation ~ Strawberry Cheese Cake (not sold in Sushi Tei).
Overall, Sushi Tei is highly recommended, your money's worth! My tummy is sated to my heart's content. This is my TOLD!
