Sin Yin Nam Cafe, New Lane, Penang

One Saturday afternoon lunch, we were driving aimlessly, uncertain of where to go and somehow landed at New Lane. It's been awhile since I came back here to eat but this place has always been a childhood memory. For as long as I can remember. Especially night time, the crowd will extend till the opposite side of the road. Night comes to life at New Lane.

So here we are, Sin Yin Nam Cafe at New Lane, Penang.

We shared three dishes and all three brought back nostalgic moments. Tastiness in the midst of  chatters, bustles in the coffee shop. Penang as it is.

Nois Coffee & Retail, Penang

An aspiring young man, Aaron Loo begins his journey with Nois which stands for Navigating Opportunity Into Society.  His heart and soul is to bring the gap closer between the rich and the poor by providing education to the underprivileged children in the near future. I believe a little difference makes a world of difference to someone in need.

With his purpose and a interest in coffee business combination, a dream is formed. The 23rd November is the soft opening of NOIS and customers were generously offered free quality black coffee. I am pretty adventurous with my taste in coffee, especially original coffee beans and it all started when I was just 17 years old working in cafe called American Dream Cafe. No longer operating because my ex-boss moved away but thats where I learn about brewing Starbucks coffee beans. Glad to have tasted Brazil Santos again.

" All of you coffee lovers of all kinds, come hangout at NOIS as the menu is increasing by the day. And if you are looking for a place to sell your things but can't afford to rent a whole shop, fret not, you can just rent shelves from Nois and they will sell on your behalf. Check out NOIS Facebook for more details."

Friend's Kitchen Business

Today I'm going to promote some of my friends food business that begins right in the heart of their home kitchen. Real food that made their names and the reason their business had begun. As cliche as it is but truly you got to try it, to know it. Each of our taste and likes are different, you just never know the surprises that comes from a cake or a dish. One might look nice, but never suit your expectations, one might look simple and a bit messy however its a taste you will never forget.
While you ponder on that, why don't you hop on to Ling's Little Kitchen who serves and deliver light food for parties and events of any kind including 'full moon' occasions. Food ranges from sandwiches, salads, spaghetti, cocktail sausages, jellies and so forth. More will be added to the menu in future.

Please contact Ling Ling for further discussion at 016-4824238

Let's visit Judith's home bakery called A Humble Beginning that sells cakes and cupcakes of any kind. What you see is what you get. Not to forget homemade burgers, which you can only get it in Penang Island. If you need cakes for occasions or burgers for parties, please check this out.

43 Cafe, Sungai Dua, Penang

In the mood for burger but bored of what the fast food chains offers? Give 43 Cafe homemade burgers a try, a healthier choice for a reasonable price. The only burger you are going to find in this cafe is pork burger. Succulent pork patties oven-grilled with no added oil tucked between lightly toasted sesame buns.

There was a new entry to the menu, BBQ Fork Pork Burger priced at RM 6.50.  Strips of pork with its homemade sauce. I took that and my friend took the original Pork Port burger of which I prefer(from Set A)

The pork burger is delectable and indeed worthy of a coming back to. Additionally, the cheese melts in your mouth making it all so appetizing and it's priced at only RM5.00(ala carte). Worth every cent.

The Set A comes with their home made mushroom soup and tomato plum juice. Healthy food has its unique taste so I believe there are a handful of people that might have to accustom to the taste. I liked it though. However the tomato plum juice seems foreign to me, you see, I'm not a fan of tomato juice. My friend likes it quite alot. So to each its own.

Other recommended selections:
-Nom Nom Nom (Penang Satay)
- Egg Pecah
- Honey Roasted Chicken Wing
- Homemade Peanut Paste

O'Briens Irish Sandwich, Penang

I discovered something better than Subway, though no offence to Subway who serves healthy meals each day. My personal preference for fast sandwich buy goes out to O'Briens Irish Sandwich.

It is situated opposite Queensbay Mall, along the shop lots at the ground floor. Cosy, quaint little place for  healthy eaters to grab their favourite sandwich. I took a look at the menu on the board and wanted to order everything to try. It all look so enticing somehow.  Well, I'm sure to visit again. You can stay up to date by liking My Tasting Outloud Facebook

Eastern Wishes at I-Avenue, Bukit Jambul, Penang

Another day, another time was my visit to Eastern Wishes for my mother's birthday. We were spoiled for choice and what is nice about this place is their prices are reasonable and it tastes real good. I was perturbed as my first post on this place 2 years ago was robbed of its pictures. Read about myTOLD:Eastern Wishes 2011, my apologies that you will not able to view the pictures of the food. It vanished from the face of the web and I was not able to uncover it anywhere. Sadly, I was not able to find my backup pictures as well. I asked Google about it but to no avail, there was no reply. Bygones be bygones, so here is Eastern Wishes in 2012.

Over a span of time since they opened, they have expanded another section, more tables for more customers. The place is rarely empty therefore traffic is good for them. There is no free WIFI service probably because they cannot afford for us to overstay our visit. :)

Curry fish, just in case you unsure.

Kim Hee Chinese Restaurant, Prai, Penang

A drive to Prai for a church meeting would definitely be accompanied by dinner and an opportune time to try a place I have never been. Like my blog motto says, " she don't seek them out, it's part of her lifestyle", truly it is as it is. So here we are at Kim Hee Chinese Restaurant taken by one of the church member, Lai Khoon from Peniel Church.

Here is the setting as we walk in and obviously it's a place where wedding functions are held in this area. A typical nice layout of the tables and stage area.

Here's their information right on the napkin.
I practically drenched my small portion of rice with this curry as it was so appetizing. Love it!
Claypot Curry Fish
Nothing can go wrong with asparagus and it's fresh and nice.
Asparagus
We were eating healthy dishes that night, steamed and good choice of protein and carbs yet as simple as it is, it was also very tasty and we finished with some complimentary fruits. We were stuffed! In a good way.
Hot plate Tofu
Steamed Egg Dish

A good place to try if you are in Prai, a great place for company functions and so on and the prices are reasonable and food is commendable.
